description. Phenomenon in visual perception where the brain selectively blocks visual processing during eye movements in a way that large changes in object location in the visual scene during a saccade are not detected.
The human eye sees up to 60 frames per seconds. However, our mind purposely turns off some of those images. Then, it tries to make sense of what it sees and wants to see. Today, the daily ad exposure goes up to 5000. Therefore, the natural blocking of images becomes natural. Through this selective blindness, the displacement of one's environment is overlooked and even unnoticed. This leads to distorted imagery and perceptions of static movement.
